Camps are designed to create a hands-on theater experience and are focused on building performance skills, self-confidence, and teamwork. Typical camps include team competitions, rotations through acting, dance, music, and visual art workshops, a daily theme-related devotional, and an impressive concluding showcase for family and friends. There’s no better place for kids to learn about theater and have fun than in CYT’s positive and encouraging atmosphere - and every camper gets the opportunity to perform on stage!

Louisiana Cajun & Creole heritage music, folklife, culture, and nature-based recreation are the heart of daily activities in Lafayette and Opelousas camps. Learn to play the accordion, fiddle, guitar, bass, and rub-board. Do a line dance, 2-step, and waltz. Eat well. Explore the Atchafalaya area. Celebrate with performance and dance with families and friends!

Junior high camp will learn foundational skills in creating art in a fun way, including color theory, perspective and proportion drawing for realistic illusions, value techniques for creating depth, and a variety of art-making media. They will be able to design their own shirts again and have an art show on the last day to display their artwork created throughout the week.
