AcA’s weeklong summer arts camps spark imagination and encourage creativity for ages 6-14. You don’t have to be an experienced artist to join!
Led by AcA’s team of teaching artists, each week has a different focus and theme to keep you inspired and challenged all summer long.

Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. For all-day camps, you will need to send lunch. All supplies and materials are included in the registration fee.

Session 1. Bound by Creativity: Exploring the Global Art of Bookbinding
June 2–6, 2025
Ages 10–14
Create your own sketchbooks and journals using old techniques still popular today! In this camp, we’ll learn techniques like Coptic Stitch, Japanese punch and French Fold and create a faux leather-bound adventure journal. Join us as we explore the art of bookbinding!
Session 2. Nature All Around: An Exploration of Art
June 9–13, 2025
Ages 6-12
Let’s get botanical! In this nature-inspired week, we’ll explore a wide variety of visual art processes such as watercolor, clay, printmaking, collage, assemblage and much more. We’ll investigate the natural world as we experiment with lots of different art materials!
Session 3. Space Dance
June 16–20, 2025
Ages 6–10
Blast off like a rocket, spin around like a revolving planet, and fly across the room like a shooting star. In this camp, we’ll explore movement and dance while learning about the wonders of outer space. It’s going to be out of this world!
Session 4. Pop Art: Mixed Media
June 16–20, 2025
Ages 9–14
Join us for a vibrant fusion of creativity – it’s pop art week! This week we will explore the multi-media creations of famous pop artists, Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring and Claes Oldenburg. Get ready to turn the everyday ordinary into extraordinary, the mundane to insane!
S5. Louisiana Camping: Art & Movement
June 23–27, 2025
Ages 6–10
Grab your backpack and discover Louisiana’s outdoor charm! We will explore camping life across our state’s landscape through movement, dance and visual art, and finish the week with a video made inside our art installation. Let’s geaux campers!
Session 6. Magic & Fantasy: 2D & 3D Art
June 23–27, 2025
Ages 8–13
Get out your magic wand! In this camp, we will dive into another realm as we explore fantasy and the supernatural world through drawing, painting and sculpture. Dragons, fairies, kings and monsters will be our subjects in this magical camp!
*Session 7. Ocean Life: Mixed Media Art
June 30–July 3, 2025 (4-day camp week)
Ages 6–12
Let’s take a deep dive into the ocean! We will create amazing sea creatures and experiment with different techniques using the water as inspiration. Grab your pool noodles and get ready to jump in!
*Session 8. Songwriting: Exploring the Connection Between Music and Writing
June 30–July 2, 2025 (3-day camp)
Ages 9–14
Join us as we explore ways to capture inspiration! In this camp led by a local singer/songwriter, campers will discover effective melody, rhythm, harmony, and lyrical techniques. After creating with lots of support and feedback, campers will have the opportunity to record a demo of their original song. Instruments are welcome, but not required!
Session 9. Icons in Art: Beginner Drawing & Painting
July 7–11, 2025 (half-day option available)
Ages 6–9

*9b. Painting Only (1:00–4:00 M–F)
We’ll learn a variety of drawing and painting techniques with iconic art images in landscapes, cityscapes and architecture as our inspiration! As a beginning artist, our teaching artists will help you develop brand new skills! This camp can be taken as a full day or half day. Classes are Monday through Friday.
Session 10. Icons in Art: Intermediate Drawing & Painting
July 7–11, 2025 (half-day option available)
Ages 10–14
*10a. Painting Only (9:00–12:00 M–F)
*10b. Drawing Only (1:00–4:00 M–F)
We’ll learn a variety of drawing and painting techniques with iconic art images in landscapes, cityscapes and architecture as our inspiration! If you have some experience in drawing or painting and want to learn more, this camp is for you! This camp can be taken as a full day or half day. Classes are Monday through Friday.

Session 12. Puppet Theater: Design & Performance
July 14–18, 2025
Ages 8–13
Calling all puppet masters! In this camp, we will design and make puppets that will become the main characters of our own performance. Learn about storyboarding and creating a performance as well as puppet making and set design. Be prepared to be dazzled by puppet theater!
Session 13. Fold & Form: The Art of Paper Sculpture
July 21–25, 2025
Ages 9–14
Start with something flat and turn it into sculpture! In this camp, we’ll create Origami, 3D organic structures, paper quills and more by exploring a variety of styles and techniques through the engagement of artists’ famous works and experimentation with paper media and tools.
Session 14. Spotlight Success: Performance Coaching for Aspiring Stars
July 28–Aug, 2025
Ages 8–14
Ready to take your performance to the next level? You’ll get personalized coaching from a well-known musician to improve performance skills, including vocal techniques, stage presence, and confidence-building, and we’ll cap the week off with a talent show!
