Lafayette Public Library is asking for the public’s input on how the Northeast Regional Library should look and what services it should offer to ensure the new branch will meet the needs of the community.
A community survey can be found on the library’s website, lafayettepubliclibrary.org. The survey will be open until November 30. A town hall meeting and a focus group meeting will be held in early November as well, with specific dates forthcoming.
After meeting last week with the design consultant for the construction project, the Northeast Library Committee agreed to conduct a community survey and hold two public events to gather ideas for the design of the new library.
The survey asks community members to share how would they like the new library branch to look and feel and what services and physical spaces the branch should have, among other questions. It also includes an open-ended question for the public to share comments and suggestions for ways to improve the library.

The Northeast Regional Library Committee will meet again on Thursday, October 17, at 6:00 pm at the Main Library (301 W. Congress Street).
The new library will be constructed on a six-acre property located east of Evangeline Thruway and south of I-10, at the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and the 100 block of Shadow Bluff Drive.
