Smoothies are a fantastic way to get healthy nutrients into your kids. Many times you can add in those fruits or even vegetables they would not normally eat and they have no idea. In our own home we have made smoothies for years and have found that simple is the best. Feel free to try this recipe with your favorite fruits and experiment!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups frozen strawberries (this is an approx)
- 2 frozen bananas (peeled and chopped) *anytime we have bananas that are becoming over ripe we throw them in the freezer for smoothies
- 1 cups yogurt (we use either plain greek or vanilla greek; whichever one we have in the fridge)
- Splash of juice (again we use what's currently in the fridge and a lot of times is apple juice or white grape cherry juice)
Directions:
- Place all ingredients in your blender or Ninja placing the splash of juice last
- Pulse the blender until desired consistency is reached. If the smoothie is too thick for your liking add more juice and pulse again. Continuing until you are satisfied.
*This recipe yields two servings.
Easy peasy and full of the good stuff. Using the yogurt also makes this recipe very fulfilling which is the perfect after school or before sports snack. In addition I keep a bag of frozen mango and papayas in the freezer. If the kids are not paying attention I throw a handful in the mix for added Vitamin C. They never notice and would not eat those fruits on their own. Mom win!
