Macaroni Kid is always searching for ways to make life easier and more fun for local families. On January 13th 2020 my own family welcomed a new addition, William Allan, our fourth child. A month in and I am searching for ways to make our life smoother and easier as we find our "new normal." A major factor in that equation is family dinners. Planning, shopping, cooking, serving, and cleaning up take a good portion of our evenings that also revolve around the kids extracurricular activities. The need for quick, delicious, easy, and nutritious meals that everyone will actually eat is a top priority for us. The more I thought about it I realized this is the case for almost every family trying to do the best they can day to day. So why not collaborate with other local families and build a Recipe Box where we can make, video, and taste test recipes to share with everyone here in Acadiana. All the recipes will be shared in one spot and will be a collection of those that kids and families ACTUALLY eat!
How do we begin? We need you to send us that recipe that your family adores. It can be breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, salad or a snack recipe. Each week we will pull one recipe from those submitted and make it in our kitchen (with the kids) and provide a tutorial and an honest family review. If you think my family will LOVE your dish - send it in! All recipes submitted will be added to the Recipe Box for all to view, print, and make. However, the star recipes (those that are quick, easy, and nutritious) will be videoed for review. These videos will be posted on social media and within the Recipe Box article. And don't hesitate to send in Instant Pot or Ninja Foodie recipes as we can make both and those are definitely quick. You will be given credit for your submissions with a byline for your recipe.
