Coach Josh Fontenot is the current Head Football Coach at Southside High School in Youngsville. Winning an undefeated 3-5A District Championship, defeating top programs such as Acadiana and Carencro, in only its 4th year of Varsity play, the Southside Sharks have established themselves as one of the top high school football programs in the region under Fontenot's leadership. He started his coaching career as a student and graduate assistant at Nicholls State University where he played quarterback for 4 years. He began his high school coaching career as QB coach at Central Lafourche High School and Offensive Coordinator at 5A Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge. Fontenot remained in the OC role for several years at 6A Spruce Creek High in Florida until moving his family back home to Louisiana and joining Crowley High School as an OC. After 3 years, he was named Head Coach at Crowley High. From 2012-2016, his successful stint as Crowley Head Coach was highlighted by a 12-1 District Championship and 4A Quarterfinal appearance in 2015, but the highlight of his success comes from working with quarterbacks. For 7 out of the 8 years at Crowley, his QBs were on the All-District 1st or 2nd teams and a 2015 MVP, and the success continued at Southside where his QBs were All-District 1st or 2nd teams for 3 out of the 4 years of varsity play.
Coach Paul Moneaux is the current Offensive Coordinator at Southside High School. During this time, he has assisted in leading the new program to 4 playoff appearances in the first 4 years of LHSAA eligibility. Prior to Southside, Coach Moneaux was at West Mesquite High School (TX) where he assisted in leading the Wranglers to the school's first playoff victory in 5 years. Coach Moneaux also served as the Special Teams Coordinator and Running Backs Coach at Crowley High School from 2014-2016. In his two years at Crowley High, Coach Moneaux helped to lead the football team to a 20-4 overall record which included a 10-0 regular season and quarterfinal playoff appearance in 2015. Coach Moneaux earned his Bachelor’s at Southeastern Louisiana where he was a member of the football team for 4 years.
