The Children’s Museum of Acadiana (CMA) will host Insect Day for the first time on May 3, 2025, from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, presented by Safari Station. Now in its 14th year, Insect Day is an all-ages celebration of insects, biodiversity, and nature-based education featuring live animals, hands-on exhibits, and expert-led activities.
Organized by entomologist Steven Barney, the event brings together leading nature organizations and educators, including Audubon Insectarium, Fluker Farms, the U.S. Forest Service - Kisatchie National Forest, Worm Lady Recycles LLC., Acadiana Master Naturalists, and others.
“Insect Day has always been about making science exciting and approachable,” said Steven Barney, who founded the event. “Hosting it at the Museum marks an exciting new chapter and a broader reach to curious minds of all ages.”
“We’re thrilled to support Insect Day and help foster deeper connections between families and the natural world,” said Siena Boney, co-owner of Safari Station.
“This event exemplifies what we strive for - learning through exploration and play,” said Lore Linton, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Acadiana. “You don’t need to bring kids to enjoy it. If you love bugs, nature, or science, Insect Day is for you.”
Insect Day is open to all ages. Admission is $12 per person, with children 12 months and under free. Tickets are on sale now and advance purchase is recommended due to limited capacity.
