Broussard Middle Teacher Named Semifinalist for LA Teacher of the Year

March 19, 2025

The Lafayette Parish School System proudly celebrates Brittany Hebert, a dedicated educator at Broussard Middle School, for being named a semifinalist for the Louisiana Teacher of the Year award. Ms. Hebert is one of just 24 teachers selected statewide and the only honoree from Lafayette Parish to achieve this distinction.

The prestigious Louisiana Teacher of the Year program, facilitated by the Louisiana Department of Education, Dream Teachers, and the Louisiana Association of Principals, recognizes outstanding educators who serve as role models and make exceptional contributions to student growth and success.

Ms. Hebert, who teaches 8th grade English and Language Arts, has been shaping young minds for 10 years and is known for her unwavering commitment to her students and innovative approach to education. Her passion for learning and dedication to excellence make her a true asset to both Broussard Middle School and the broader Lafayette Parish community.

LPSS Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr., praised Ms. Hebert’s achievement, stating:

"Ms. Hebert’s commitment to going above and beyond in the classroom exemplifies the incredible impact our educators have on student growth. Her dedication to student success and her ability to inspire those around her embody the excellence we strive for in Lafayette Parish. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor! "

Finalists for Louisiana Teacher of the Year finalists will be announced in May, with the overall winner being recognized at the 19th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Gala.
