September 26, 2024

The Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ava Boustany Venable as the new Principal of Myrtle Place Elementary. Mrs. Venable brings over a decade of experience and dedication to the role, having demonstrated a strong commitment to educational excellence and community collaboration throughout her career.

Mrs. Venable began her teaching journey in 2012 at Jeanerette Elementary School as a 1st-grade teacher. She later joined the LPSS family at Myrtle Place Elementary, where she taught 1st grade across all subjects, and Kindergarten English Language Arts to French Immersion students. Her work with French Immersion students sparked a passion for supporting global diversity and bilingual education, which she has carried throughout her career.

In 2020, Mrs. Venable earned her Master’s degree from LSU-Shreveport and transitioned into an Instructional Leadership position at J.W. Faulk Elementary. The following year, she was appointed Assistant Principal at J.W. Faulk Elementary, where she continued to support students and teachers for three years. Most recently, she served as Assistant Principal at S.J. Montgomery Elementary, further honing her leadership skills and fostering a culture of academic achievement.

Mrs. Venable is deeply committed to collaborating with French Immersion staff and families and is passionate about nurturing a love of the French language and culture among students. As Principal of Myrtle Place Elementary, she will continue to empower the school community, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and culturally rich environment.

“Mrs. Venable’s experience and dedication to promoting a rich cultural environment make her the perfect fit for Myrtle Place Elementary,” said LPSS Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr.
LPSS is confident that Mrs. Venable’s leadership will further enhance the educational experience at Myrtle Place Elementary, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make on the school community.
