Willis Siblings to Perform Latest Work of Film, Dance and Music

August 8, 2024

Lafayette choreographer Whitney Willis Hebert and her brother, New Orleans composer Reid Willis, are known for creating fascinating performing arts and they’re at it again.

The team have collaborated and will bring “Sediment,” a spectacular multimedia concert of music and dance, to the Acadiana Center for the Arts as a part of the ACA’s Spotlight Series for Theater and Dance. Performances are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on August 29 and 30. The Acadiana Center for the Arts is located at 101 W. Vermilion St. in downtown Lafayette.

With live music, abstract film and contemporary dance, the show parallels the human experiences of loss, metamorphosis, and rebirth with the earth’s natural processes of erosion, decay, and renewal.

The performance is an expansion upon Willis’ latest album, also titled, “Sediment.”  The siblings have created an immersive and stimulating stage experience that personifies the album’s evocative feel. The Willis siblings have contributed to each other’s work for several years, including Whitney’s 2018 debut “THIRST” and Reid’s 2021 release of “Piano Reworks - Live at the Marigny Opera House.” “Sediment” will be their first official stage performance together.

Whitney Willis Hebert also produced the wildly successful Ten Tiny Dancers in 2023, which took place at Feed & Seed.

The music of Sediment will be performed live by Reid Willis on the piano, Brett Hebert on guitar, bass, and drums, and Arco Music on violin, viola, and cello.  The dance cast includes Whitney Willis Hebert and professional dancers Nicole Curtis, Rachel Geiger and Natalie Kojis.

Tickets for Sediment range $30-$40 and can be found online at acadianacenterforthearts.org.

Performing Arts Serving Acadiana (PASA) has provided additional support for “Sediment.”
