It's BACKPACK PROJECT TIME!!! We are so excited to be hosting the 9th Annual Mable's Table Backpack Project. We can't believe that it has been 9 years and we have distributed over 2,400 backpacks filled with all the love our volunteers have put into them. But we can't do it without the help of our donors and sponsors. We are forever grateful for Kiwanis Club of Lafayette, UBS Financial, Stuller Foundation and all the individual grants and donations that come in every year. Seriously, EVERY DOLLAR HELPS!!! Thank you for continuing to support our mission of Empowering & Inspiring Children in Acadiana.
Nine years ago, this project was started by a foster mom who saw a way to help foster children all while creating an event to teach other children about volunteerism. From 50 volunteers packing 150 backpacks to now over 300 backpacks and more than 150 volunteers, the Mable's Table Backpack Project has grown to serve not only the foster children in our community but also some of our homeless and most needy children as well. This year we will be packing 300 backpacks and 100 homework kits and doing many different projects to put in the bags. And in addition to our tradition of serving cookies and lemonade, we will also have Kona Ice in the parking lot! We truly appreciate all of you!!
