Legacy of Lions: Pave the Way for Sunset High's Revival

Γ‰cole Saint-Landry's Brick & Boardwalk Campaign

February 1, 2024

École Saint-Landry announces the launch of their Brick & Boardwalk Campaign. This exciting initiative is set to renovate the Sunset High School building, transforming it into École Saint-Landry’s upper elementary school. The French immersion school invites the communities’ participation in this monumental chapter that promises to redefine history and shape the future of education in St. Landry Parish.

“We’re so excited to finally be launching this campaign. Not only will this serve as a fundraiser for the $5.7 million dollar renovation, but it will allow us to save Sunset High, a building that served as a cornerstone in St. Landry Parish for so many years. The facility is on the National Register of Historic Places, and we aim to preserve the architecture and design of the original building as much as possible,” says Lindsay Smythe, School Principal for École Saint-Landry.

This is a unique opportunity for Sunset High Lion alumni to rekindle their school spirit and cherished memories. By purchasing a legacy brick or a boardwalk plank, Sunset High graduates and fans can forever connect themselves to the rich history of Sunset High. Current École Saint-Landry Lion families or supporters of French language and culture in South Louisiana are also asked to purchase a brick or plank to show support in the school and its efforts to provide a high quality education in the heritage language of the region.
