Love Our Schools announced its annual CAFÉ Launch to be held on the morning of Tuesday, August 1, inviting members of the public and businesses to participate in CAFÉs (Community and Family Engagement) in twenty-four Lafayette Parish public schools during the upcoming school year.
Love Our Schools is entering our third year of engagement with community businesses, individuals, churches, and nonprofit organizations to build villages around schools in the Lafayette Parish School System. The goal is to provide the principals and students with a team of community stakeholders for assistance and guidance throughout the year, creating a stronger community and stronger schools. The principals will participate in the CAFÉ Launch alongside the community members.
Love Our Schools invites all community members interested in supporting our local public schools to attend the CAFÉ Launch and learn more about how they can support the school by being a CAFÉ member.

“We are excited to expand our CAFÉ model into 12 new schools this upcoming year,” said Millicent Nugent, LOS Executive Director, “as we continue to build villages around the public school to provide additional support and resources from the community members. We need everyone to help make our schools better, and the teachers and students feel the support and love that the community pours into our CAFÉs throughout the school year.”
Love Our Schools continues working towards engagement with the community to improve lives through leadership and education. The Launch follows the Serve Day event on July 29 which will bring hundreds of volunteers to twelve of the CAFÉ schools for improvement projects leading up to the beginning of the school year. Throughout the year, the CAFÉs (Community and Family Engagement) support the work of twenty-four of Lafayette Parish schools through initiatives that support literacy, improve teacher retention, and decrease truancy.
