Lafayette Parks and Recreation is putting on a series of track meets that started last Saturday, April 23rd. There is NO COST associated with participating, and no special equipment or clothing is required (wear comfortable shorts, tshirt, and athletic shoes -- NO CLEATS). For children ages 7-14.
This week's meet takes place at Acadiana High School's track (April 30th). The last two meets will be held at Carencro High (May 7th and 14th). Events are scheduled to begin at 9am.
Registration begins at 8am onsite.
Events include:
Softball Throw
Standing Long Jump
High Jump (9-14 year olds only)
30 Meter Dash (7-8 year olds only)
50 Meter Dash
100 Meter Dash
200 Meter Dash
800 Meter Dash
1600 Meter Dash
4 x 100 Meter Relay
Participants are allowed to participate in a maximum of 6 events. There is a $5 fee for non-participants to enter and concessions are available.
