BOO at the ZOO - 2021!
Zoosiana's Boo at the Zoo is all month long this October!
That's right! You can celebrate fall at Zoosiana with Boo at the Zoo, any day in October! Boo at the Zoo has always been special at Zoosiana, and while this year is even more special, it will look a little different than in past years.
- Celebrate any day from October 1st to October 31st
- Online costume contest
- "Trick-or-Treat" bag upon exit (for children 12 and under)
- Social distancing and safety policies
- No special event pricing. Normal zoo admission and Zoosiana Members get in free!
- Gem Mining – Now Open! Discover, learn, and have fun!
- See your favorite Zoosiana animals, especially Zooiana'a new lion cubs!

Enjoy Boo at the Zoo any day from October 1st to October 31st this year! Visit Zoosiana on the day of your choice, just like you would any other time throughout the year. Zoosiana will be decorated in the spirit of Boo at the Zoo to help get you in the festive spirit. We invite all children to wear their favorite, most amazing Halloween costumes! Online Costume Contest:
Children are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costume to the zoo! We’re keeping our annual costume contest alive, but this year it will all be online. Here's how to enter:
- Visit Zoosiana in your best Halloween costume between October 1st and October 31st
- Take your child’s or your family’s photo at the designated PHOTO OP SPOT
- Email your best photo to boo@zoosiana.com to submit
All costume contest submissions will be posted to Zoosiana’s Facebook Page as they are received. The photo with the most “likes” by the end of the day (11:59pm) October 31, 2021, will win a special prize! Submissions are limited to one per child or group. The winner will be announced on Zoosiana’s Facebook and Instagram and will be contacted by email no later than November 2, 2021. By submitting your photo to the above email address, you consent to Zoosiana posting your submitted photo online for public voting on Zoosiana's Facebook and Instagram.
Trick-or-Treat Bags:
All children (12 years old and under) in costume can receive a special treat bag when exiting the zoo. Please ask a gift shop staff member for your treat bag as you exit, either from inside the gift shop or at the front windows.
Gem Mine – Now Open!
*Discover, learn, and have fun!* - Jungle George's Good-Timing Gem Mining! Step up and explore the wonders you can find, from gemstones to fossils and more. Select your discovery bag, pour it into your sifting pan, and watch your treasures appear. You can even take home what you find! Several options are available, and prices vary. Find our Gem Mine across from our Parakeet Aviary.
Admission & Pricing:
Since we’re celebrating all month long, there is no special event pricing for Boo at the Zoo this year. Regular admission prices apply all month long and Zoosiana Members get in free! Normal fees apply to all regular zoo attractions.
What will be different at Boo at the Zoo this year?
Due to Covid-19, we are offering our exciting Boo at the Zoo with a few changes. Trick-or-treating will be replaced with all children in costume receiving a treat bag upon exiting the zoo. Our annual costume contest will occur through the zoo's social media pages with contestant-submitted photos taken at a designated photo area. To minimize crowds, the festivities will take place all month long, rather than on designated weekends.
