My first memory every Christmas morning was running into a dark room with a brightly lit Christmas tree glowing, surrounded by presents and full stockings. Oh how it was a sight to take in every year without fail, this picture is vividly etched into my memory bank in the tab marked "forever files."
Our stockings were always our first target ("our" refers to my two brothers and myself). We were allowed to dump them out and gobble up candy while we were waiting on our parents to emerge from the bedroom so that we may open the wrapped presents. Stockings were always 90% candy with a few trinkets. Each of us had our preferences and my mother always had every stocking overflowing with the goodies.
Now that I am a mother of four, it is my job to make sure my children's memory banks contain the same magical wonder of my own childhood years. Shopping at Target each holiday season has assured this task is fulfilled and I could not be more grateful .
