Junior League of Lafayette’s Collaborative Opportunity Grants Committee awarded its 2020-2021 grants, which consist of volunteer support hours as well as financial contributions, to local nonprofit organizations.

A total of $18,385 in grants were awarded to 10 local nonprofit organizations during the League’s General Membership Meeting, held at Le Pavillon at Parc Lafayette on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

According to Junior League of Lafayette President, Dr. Melanie Fowler, “By combining our member volunteers along with funding, Junior League of Lafayette’s Collaborative Opportunity Grants program allows us to serve local nonprofits in a very unique way, which speaks to our Mission of improving our community while training women leaders. It’s fitting that our 2020-2021 theme is Better Together!”

Annual grants are funded through Junior League of Lafayette fundraising efforts such as Tinsel & Treasures holiday market, the sales from the League’s four member-written cookbooks, and community program sponsorships.

Roya Boustany, Junior League of Lafayette Executive Vice President, stated, “Granting over $18,000 to help support the efforts of so many worthwhile nonprofit organizations in our community only serves to further our Mission.
