My family LOVES pizza, but sometimes I get tired of the same old pie.
So I came up with this pizza casserole -- which gives the kids the taste they love while giving me a break from one more pizza night.
This pizza casserole is also a great way to use up leftover veggies or meat as pizza toppings. My family likes to make a "half-and-half" casserole, as we are a house divided when it comes to pizza toppings. You could also use small ramekin type dishes for everyone to make their own "personal pan casserole."
Pizza Casserole
Ingredients:
- 1 can of tomato sauce (15 ounces)
- 1 can of pizza sauce (15 ounces)
- 2 cups elbow macaroni noodles, cooked and drained
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (grated or shredded, your choice)
- Pizza toppings of your choice. Here are a few ideas:
- Mushrooms
- Pepperoni
- Ground Italian sausage
- Onions
- Green peppers
- Olives
- Diced ham
- Ground beef
Instructions:
- Grease bottom of 9x13 pan with olive oil or cooking spray.
- Mix the tomato sauce and pizza sauce together in a separate bowl.
- Cover the bottom of the pan with the cooked macaroni noodles.
- Pour half of the sauce mixture over the noodles; spread evenly.
- Layer half of the pizza toppings.
- Pour the other half of the sauce mix over the toppings; spread evenly.
- Layer the remaining half of your pizza toppings.
- Sprinkle on Parmesan cheese and top with mozzarella cheese.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the casserole is heated through.
