Summer is officially here. The school days are over which means all structure flies out the window. And what better way to let loose then fill up on ice cream in the 100 degree Louisiana heat? I wanted to surprise my kids with a bunch of cold treats but could not fathom walking through Walmart in my heels after a long day at work. And because so many parents have already raved about Walmart's Online Grocery Pickup service I decided to give it a try. The ease of the whole process really blew me away.
First you must create an account at Walmart Grocery (click here). This part was already handled for me as I have used their Savings Catcher App for three years now.
Next you search for the items you want and add them to your cart. I found the search tool to be highly effective. It's even more efficient then shopping in the store because you can read online reviews of the products. In my case I searched for Popsicle® Fruit Pops, Magnum® Tubs, Breyers® 2 in 1 ice cream, and Klondike® ice cream bars
It is worth noting here that your order must be a minimum of $30. I find this an acceptable amount to have someone shop for you, haha. And how can you not spend at least $30 at a store that has EVERYTHING you ever need.
Once your cart is complete you simply check out, pick the store location you need, and select a convenient time to pick it up. I chose 6 o'clock so that I could pick it up on my way home from work and surprise the family with cold treats.
Of course the very last detail is actually picking up your order. Walmart sent me a text and an email around 5:45 pm stating my order was ready. The important thing to remember here is that I ordered ice cream and I certainly did not want it melting before I got it home. Walmart succeeded in keeping it frozen! I did promise to give a review on the products as well. The white chocolate vanilla Magnum® ice cream was only for me (sometimes us mommas can be selfish:) and it is amazing! There is a layer of white chocolate on top of the ice cream. I plan on trying more of their flavors in the very near future.
I was surprised that my son, Caleb, went for the Klondike® bar first but he loved it and I believe it only took him 30 seconds to eat it. My husband and my oldest kept cool with the original Popsicle® pops.
