2018 Zydeco Marathon

January 16, 2018

Facts About 2018’s Race:

         ●  The 5th Annual Zydeco Marathon, Half, and Relay is officially the Lafayette General Zydeco Marathon.

         ●  The race starts at 7 am on March 4, in Downtown Lafayette, and will host more than 2,000 runners dashing through the heart of the city.

       ●  CHARITY: Whether you run the full marathon, half-marathon, or share the full or half with a relay, all registrants can raise funds for babies undergoing NICU treatment. Proceeds from the charity running program will go to Lafayette General Foundation’s NICU Rocks Program and NicView Technology.

         ●  The Relay can be split among 4 runners for the full Marathon or 2 runners for the Half-Marathon. This is a great way to participate and make the most out of your charity run efforts if you choose to do so.

         ●  The Expo is 10 am - 8 pm on Saturday, March 3, at the Blackham Coliseum. All runners must pick up their packets here to be able to run on Sunday, and sponsors will have booths so the public is welcome to check it out!

         ●  Finish Line Festival starts as the runners are coming back to finish Downtown. Bands will be playing, and there’s plenty to eat and drink for anyone who’d like to celebrate with us at Parc International!

         ●  Over 50% of the runners are from outside of Lafayette, so we encourage the city to come out and cheer them on with a Porch Party. We’re also looking for more Hydration Stations Sponsors to help cheer on as well! This is a great team activity for organizations, and it encourages runners to keep coming back every year.

Beneficiary Programs at Lafayette General Health:

         ●  “NICU Rocks” is a cuddling program that utilizes volunteers from the Lafayette General Health (LGH) Volunteer Program, mamaRoo® Units, and swings to rock and cuddle infants born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). It is also geared towards babies whose mother might be in the adult ICU or lives too far away to visit frequently.

         ●  The “NicView” camera and stream provides a live view into the baby’s Isolette or bassinet in LGMC’s NICU, and is viewable from any online device, such as a computer, smart phone or tablet. This view can provide peace of mind to the mother or concerned loved ones, while allowing all to observe the baby’s daily progress.
