*University Medical Center New Orleans is pleased to announce the upcoming Child Passenger Safety certification class in the Lafayette area on November 29th--December 2nd, 2017. In this 4-day class an individual can learn how to educate the general public on the importance of correct installation and use of child safety seats. University Medical Center Level 1 Trauma Center in New Orleans and the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission invite you to help us decrease the number of injuries and fatalities on Louisiana roadways.
This is a 4 day certification course for individuals who are interested in educating the public on the use and proper installation of child restraints. The proper installation of child restraints promotes compliance with Louisiana child restraint and seat belt laws, resulting in a decreased number of child and adult injuries and fatalities in motor vehicle crashes. Having certified technicians at your agency provides the technical knowledge necessary to address installation issues, allows for participation in community events and promotes the establishment of agency / individual fitting stations.
Grant funding is limited to participants who will: 1) maintain technical skills, 2) stay involved, 3) establish an agency fitting station or routinely participate in a community fitting station and 4) make a commitment to saving lives free of cost.
* There is a grant funded child passenger safety Awareness Course for participants who cannot meet these expectations.
Upon agreement, your certification fee and all course fees/materials are supported by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and University Medical Center (Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force).

Class size is limited. Your online application will be reviewed, and if approved, a confirmation will be sent to you. A $60.00 cancellation fee will apply to all cancellations 10 days prior to the first day of class.
