A Good Time in the Old Town: Washington Festival Returns

March 19, 2026

The Town of Washington invites residents and visitors alike for the Washington Community Festival on Saturday, March 21, 2026, a full day of family-friendly festivities celebrating Acadiana culture and small-town spirit.

Held in historic downtown Washington, the festival features live music, local food and craft vendors, community booths, a plant sale by the Washington Garden Club, and the much-anticipated 5th Annual Car Show along Veterans Memorial Highway. The event brings together local businesses, artisans, musicians, and civic organizations for a lively celebration rooted in tradition and community pride.

The Car Show will showcase a wide range of classic and modern vehicles, with awards including Top 30, Mayor’s Choice, and Best in Show. Car enthusiasts can register onsite in the morning, and winners will be announced during the afternoon awards ceremony.

Additionally, the Festival welcomes back the Catfish Cookoff, featuring local teams serving their best dishes to local judge, Jason Huguet, Chef/Owner of the Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant.

Throughout the day, festival-goers can enjoy live Cajun, Zydeco, and regional music, including a Cajun/Creole Jam Session with Mark Ardoin, plus performances by Don Fontenot Et Les Amis De La Louisiane and Horace Trahan & The Ossun Express, along with a variety of food vendors offering local flavors and handmade goods. The festival also includes activities for children and families, including photos with the Easter Bunny, making it a welcoming event for all ages.
