On March 20, Butler and her Joyride Band—a gang of Grammy nominees and winners, and Hall of Famers—will take the stage at The Theatre at Barancofor a lively tribute celebrating the timeless music of legends like Roberta Flack and Quincy Jones. The performance coincides with the Sterling Grove Festival, which runs this weekend.
With a voice that’s both silky and powerful and a stage presence that radiates joy, the tribute promises a night of unforgettable music, big talent, and irresistible energy. The Theater at Baranco is located in the historic Baranco Elementary (formerly N.P. Moss), located at the corner of Moss St. and Mudd Ave. Tickets are available at pasaonline.org, in person at the Heymann Center box office, or at the door the night of the show.
Pianist and vocalistJill Butler brings powerhouse vocals, soulful piano, and a contagious sense of fun to every stage she touches. With deep roots in jazz, blues, and classic soul, Butler blends effortless musicianship with playful charm, delivering performances that are as polished as they are electric.
Whether she’s belting a soaring ballad or grooving through a funky rhythm, her dynamic style keeps audiences smiling, swaying, and fully along for the ride.
It’ll be grand, literally! Thanks to Lafayette Music Company, Jill will take her place at a grand piano on stage. The last time there was a grand piano on the stage was in 1994, when PASA brought pianist William Chapman Nyaho to perform for students at what was then N.P. Moss Middle School.
The Joyride Band Dion Pierre, on bass; Frank Kincel on drums; Denny Skerrett on sax; Clinton Jones on guitar; Herb Green on percussion. Teka Briscoe and Samuel Johnson III join Jill Butler on vocals.
