Children's Museum of Acadiana - Holiday Programming

November 20, 2019

‘TIS THE SEASON FOR HOLIDAY DISCOVERY

The Children’s Museum of Acadiana (CMA) is all about discovery and learning through play.  The CMA takes great pride in offering hands-on learning opportunities for children and their families. Through our exhibits and programming children are inspired to explore, play and learn individually, with their peers and with their caregivers.  Research continually shows us that “play” is a necessary component in child’s development and it is our goal to make sure that kids will always have a place to learn and grow.

When you add holiday programming to the mix, it is double the fun to play and learn!

New Year’s Noon Carnival Countdown          Tuesday December 31 10 am – 2 pm

Ring in 2020… kid-style!  There is no need to keep the kids up late or wake them up to celebrate at midnight, join Children’s Museum of Acadiana for New Year’s Noon.

At the stroke of 12  (NOON that is!) on New Year’s Eve, Tuesday,  December 31, 2019,  there is only one place in Acadiana where a family can dance in a confetti blizzard, jump and shout under a balloon drop, use a mallet and ring the bell on a kid-sized high-striker; go’fishin with Acadiana Kiwanis, bowl a strike or two, shoot some hoops, “pepper the gumbo” at the McIhenney game, get a tattoo, color your hair,  win prizes and more!  The festivities begin at 10:00 am with old-fashioned carnival games in the CMA parking lot and open play in all exhibits.  Party hats and noisemakers will be provided for children to “ring” in the New Year either inside, in a flurry of confetti or outside, under the tent, in a sea of balloons.   Carnival game tickets range from 25 cents to $1.50; or purchase an unlimited-play game wristband for $15.00.  Rain or shine, we’re ringing in 2019 with a loud and joyful celebration! Bring the entire family. Celebrate the New Year.  Have fun.  Make memories.  Note: Strollers permitted in carnival area only.

Admission: $8.00 per person (12 months and under are free)

Member rate:  members are $1.00 per person

Children’s Museum of Acadiana is a nonprofit organization. A nonprofit is responsible for serving the community around them. All nonprofits have a mission statement that helps to focus the work they are doing for the community.  This means that the work the CMA does is to further its mission of “Learning by Doing”.  The education team works hard to make sure that each program and exhibit in the museum reflects the mission and is filling a need the community has. The CMA creates a space for pre-school learning and enriches learning outside the classroom. Want to keep your kids active and entertained over the school holidays in a safe environment? With a focus on hands-on activities and having a good time, we offer extended seasonal programming suitable for pre-school and primary school aged children.  “Learning by Doing” will have your child exploring a world of fun, activity and adventure.
