Thomas Built Buses Hosts Annual Photo Contest

A Chance to Win a $2,000 Donation for Your School

By Sponsored Content August 14, 2014
As children across the country gear up with their new backpacks, school supplies, clothes and haircuts, parents are reaching for their cameras, ready to capture another milestone with the annual back to school photo. This year, capture that memorable shot and share it for a chance to win a $2,000 donation to your school.

Thomas Built School Buses, one of the premier manufacturers of school buses, again is hosting its annual Back to School Photo Contest to celebrate the importance of school buses during this back to school season. Why celebrate school buses? Here, from the American School Bus Council, are a few fast facts that you might not know.

  • School buses are the safest form of transportation to and from school. Students are about 50 times more likely to arrive at school safely if they take the bus than if they drive themselves or ride with friends. Students are also about 20 times more likely to arrive to school safely if they take the bus than if a parent drives them.
  • One school bus route can take as many as 36 cars off the road. That equates to 17.3 million fewer cars traveling to and from schools every school day. How’s that for helping prevent traffic jams?
  • This year, more than 25 million students will ride the school bus back to school. Sadly, for many of those students, the school bus is their only way to get to school. Without school buses, they would not have equal access to education.
Celebrate School Buses and Enter the Thomas Built Photo Contest
Thomas Built encourages all parents across the country to join the celebration by submitting a photo that best represents their child in the Back to School season. The top five winners will each receive a $2,000 donation for their child’s school.

To enter, students 18 or older and parents can visit the Thomas Built Buses Facebook page, “Like” the page and enter a photo that best represents the fun, excitement and nostalgia of riding the bus back to elementary, middle, or high school. All photos must depict a school bus.

Entries will be accepted from August 1, 2014 through September 15, 2014. On September 16, the vot-ing period for all eligible photos will begin. Parents should encourage their families and friends to vote for their favorite photo on the Thomas Built Facebook page. Then, on October 1, the 50 photos with the most votes on Facebook will be reviewed by a panel of independent judges who will choose the top five photos.
