Not everyone is a pet person, but odds are if you have a pet, especially an indoor one, you feel like it is a big part of your family.  Dog lovers usually treat thier dogs more like children than dogs (guilty!) and lavish love and attention on them whenever possible.  I recently had the pleasure to meet someone who does just that for her own pets and has taken her joy in doing so public. 

Suzette Tardo is the owner of Camp Bow Wow, a doggie Day Care and Boarding facility in Lafayette.  When I first spoke to Suzette I was immediately taken in by her warm personality.  The instant she started talking about Camp Bow Wow you could hear her genuine enthusiasm about the Camp and it's furry play-friends.  I was lucky enough to get a guided tour by Suzette last week and I was very impressed by the way she does things.

Our tour started off with the "Interview" area.  Apparently all dogs are interviewed to determine their temperament so that they can be placed with like minded dogs during their stay at Camp.  All dogs are separated in accordance with their size and behaviors so that they can play with each other in the safest way possible.  I got to see this is action when we went to see the play areas for the dogs.  They were having so much fun running around inside and out and interacting with each other, it was amazing to see!

The Kennel areas are super-clean and each Camper has his/her own "footlocker" to store their personal belongings in.  They get turn down service at the end of the day (a special stuffed treat) and special activities during the week to keep them surprised and engaged.  I couldn't get over how much like a daycare this place actually was, not just some cage to throw your dog in while your on vacation.  It's heartwarming to know that someone will treat your dog just like you do while your away, be it a day or overnight.  My suggestion is you check out Camp Bow Wow, they will treat your dogs like you do, and you can't beat that!
