September 22, 2016

Crime Statistics for 2016 have been released by the Lafayette Police Department. There has been a 4% drop in the total reported crime rates within the City of Lafayette. Decreases in 2016 included the crimes of Homicide, Robbery, Assault, Theft and Auto Theft. Increases included Forcible Rape and Burglary.

The start of two new special operation teams by Chief Reginald Thomas which included the Lafayette Police Special Investigation Unit and the C.O.P.S. Unit, have greatly contributed to the decrease in some of the reported areas.
